Our work is rooted in a Jewish tradition that sees helping people build a secure financial future as the highest form of poverty relief. By offering loans rather than charity, JFLA helps people become, and remain, self-sufficient.
Personal/Emergency loans up to $15,000 with two qualified guarantors/co-signers are available for all sorts of needs including housing stability, student debt consolidation, access to medical, dental, and pet care, and more.
Small business loans up to $50,000 with three qualified guarantors/co-signers are available for all sorts of business needs including start-up costs, rent, salaries and benefits, Inventory, marketing expenses, renovations or expansion, and more.
Student loans up to $10,000 with two qualified guarantors/co-signers are available for full or part-time programs including undergraduate degrees, nursing, medical, dental school, or other graduate school programs, community college, vocational/trade, and more.
The Torah states, (Exodus 22:24): When you lend money to someone in your community who is struggling, do not profit from their hardship. Do not charge interest.
Guided by this value, since 1904 Jewish Free Loan Association has offered zero-interest, zero-fee loans to all those who qualify, regardless of religion, race, or gender. We lend to the entire community as an expression of Jewish responsibility to care for one another.
By offering loans, we help people regain stability and independence, and we spread Jewish values by strengthening individuals, families, and the broader community.
All applicants must be over 18, have a permanent residence in Los Angeles, Ventura, Orange, or Santa Barbara County, have proof of income and a valid CA state ID.

Your gift powers zero-interest, zero-fee loans for families, students, and small businesses across our community.
Eligible students pursuing degrees, diplomas, or certificates at Vocational, Extension or Trade Schools, Community or Junior Colleges can receive up to $5,000 with one qualified guarantor or up to $10,000 with two qualified guarantors.
